In theory, a portfolio represents an artist's best work and shows the full range of his or her capabilities. That said, it is a snapshot in time. In selecting the work to include in my online portfolio I've tried to select representative pieces and I will try to refresh it periodically with newer work. Does it tell the whole story? I'm not sure. But, it tries.
I think think the following things come through in my portfolio: - My color aesthetic: Strong and warm with lots of complementary color play. I just don't do much subtle, light value, tone-on-tone stuff. I've been told that some of my work has a sort of "retro" feel in its hue selection.
- My design aesthetic: Balanced, geometric, and abstract. I've heard my work described as "painterly" and "printerly", by which you can say that my art cloth focuses less on building surfaces through immersion dying and more on mark-making.
